Landscaping and acoustic barrier

Madrid

A broken wall of concrete protecting a terraced garden.

The project area comprises a narrow strip of land, questioning the good use of the plot. The proposal is an integrated solution of sound-absorbent protection and terraced gardens. Two construction systems are combined here: pre-fabricated concrete panels, and the creation of a terraced vegetation wall. The broken geometry of L-shaped panels reduces the visual impact that would have been brought by a strictly linear approach, intertwining its line around a series of concrete tree wells. The residential area, on the other side, is tackled by means of an ecologic wall that provides resting areas, turning the need for a sound barrier into an opportunity for urban development.
